🙞 Schnitzel
Ingredients
- 2 boneless pork chops
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- ½ cup flour
- 1 egg
- ½ tbs lemon juice
- ½ cup bread crumbs
- Vegetable oil
- Paprika, savory, thyme, optional
Equipment
- Meat mallet
- Parchment paper
- 3 dishes/bowls for dredging
Preparation
- Place chops between two layers of parchment paper, then pound with meat mallet until ¼" thick, and season with salt and pepper
- Place flour and any optional seasoning as desired in first bowl; crack egg(s) into second bowl with lemon juice; place bread crumbs into third bowl
Instructions
- Pour oil into pan until the bottom is covered and heat to medium high
- Dredge chops in each bowl in order, coating entirely with each bowl's content
- Fry chops 2-3 at a time for 3-4 minutes, then flip and fry other side for 3-4 minutes until brown or 145 degrees F internal temperature
Notes
Pork chops can be substituted with chicken breast or veal, ensuring that each is cut and pounded thin.
